Acquisition
In July 2023, Vela Industries Group (VIG), through its subsidiary Datamine, announced the acquisition of Sodep, a leading Brazilian company specializing in fleet management systems and innovative information technology and automation solutions. This strategic acquisition aims to enhance VIG’s portfolio in fleet management and expand its presence in various industries, including mining, ports, steel, forestry, agribusiness, and large-scale construction projects.
The acquisition of Sodep is a strategic move for Datamine, complementing its extensive portfolio of software solutions across the mining value chain. By integrating Sodep’s leading fleet management system with Datamine’s existing offerings, the combined entity can provide clients with enhanced visibility and control over material movements, from extraction to the end customer. This integration positions Datamine to offer a seamless package encompassing dispatch, asset management, material tracking, metal accounting, and product sales, all supported by a unified customer service framework.
Dylan Webb, CEO of VIG, highlighted the strategic fit of the acquisition, stating, “The acquisition of Sodep is strategic for the Datamine group, adding to our extensive portfolio of software for the mining value chain. The combination of Sodep’s leading fleet management system with our MineMarket inventory management solution enables complete visibility and control of material movements from blasting to the final customer.”
We are excited to join the VelaIndustries Group as we enter the next phase of our business. Sodep will now be part of VIG’s comprehensive mining software portfolio with global market reach. This will lead to the expansion of our business in geography and capability as we leverage the synergy offered by VIG to provide more value to our customers.”
